Out of favour Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan has thanked his fans post completing a whopping 5 million followers on social media website Facebook. He is enjoying an off-season right now and gearing up for the upcoming domestic challenges. Irfan last featured in a competitive game in April this year during IPL.

The bowler was extremely happy and posted a video on his Facebook page and expressed gratitude towards his fans. Apart from that, he also said that he is really looking forward to the upcoming domestic season and is sure the hard work he is putting in will payoff and yield performance. Irfan leads the Baroda team in first-class and List A games.

“Five million and counting, thank you so much for all the love and support throughout. Whatever I am right now is because of you guys. Your wishes are always there for me and hopefully, it will be there in the future as well, no matter what I do in the future,” a jubilant Pathan said in the video.

He also informed that he is getting ready for the gruelling times approaching in the near future and hoped to make his followers proud.

“I wanted to share that a very important season is coming up for me. I am really working hard and hopefully, I give my best in this season as well. It is gonna be a wonderful season for me and hopefully, I will make you guys proud. Thank you so much for the support and I really value you guys which I truly believe not just with my words but with my actions as well. Keep supporting and keep showering all the love which I always required,” the bowler who took a hat-trick in the first over of the Test against Pakistan added.

Illustrious career

Irfan Pathan last donned India jersey, in 2012 in a T20 International against South Africa during the World T20 in Sri Lanka. He has scalped 100 wickets in 29 Test matches with 7 five-wicket hauls. In One-Day Internationals, the left-arm pacer has picked 173 wickets in 120 matches.

The bowler turned all-rounder has been striving hard these days to come back into the national side. The upcoming season is crucial for him and he has to perform exceedingly well in order to stake any claim for his return.
