Irfan Pathan ties the knot with Safa Baig in low key affair in Jeddah

Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has tied the knot with 21-year-old Arab model Safa Baig in a low-key affair at Jeddah on the 4th of February. The Nikaah ceremony took place in the ‘Haram Shareef’ in Mecca which was attended only by the relatives of the couple. A dinner program was later arranged by the Pathans at the Trident Hotel in Jeddah.

The story of Irfan Pathan’s wedding was an extremely well-kept secret. It has been reported that Irfan and Safa had been seeing each other for a couple of years before getting engaged three months back. Safa, who is a model, is currently employed by a PR firm based in Jeddah.

A source close to the family was quoted in media reports saying, “Irfan and Safa met in Dubai about two years ago and later came close. Safa even visited Vadodara to meet Irfan’s family. The duo got engaged about three months ago following which the wedding date was fixed,”

In spite of making a big case for his selection for the upcoming World T20, Irfan was unfortunately left out of the 15-man squad.

The last few months have seen a good number of Indian cricketers tie the knot. Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma are among the few who have done so. The latest to join the engaged club is Ravindra Jadeja.

That said, Irfan’s ability to keep the engagement under wraps is certainly commendable. Safa is the daughter of nail artist Mirza Farooq Baig and an alumnus of International Indian School in Jeddah.

Irfan Pathan is expected to throw a massive party at the Laxmi Vilas Palace at his hometown Vadodara. The date of the bash hasn’t been revealed yet.
