During the last one year, cricket has been played in extremely challenging situations where players have moved from one bio-bubble to the other. The bi0-bubbles were stringent enough to allow very limited movement to the players and this has been a cause of worry for players. India’s ace pacer Mohammed Shami who is currently playing with PBKS in IPL 2021 opened up on the same scenario.

Shami has been away from his family for five months now as he moved to the UK in June to play the finale of WTC and then it was followed by England series and IPL. The pacer added that prolonged time in these bubbles have irritated players often and they can be mentally disturbing too. Even after IPL 2021, the T20 World Cup awaits him.

“The biggest challenge is to go out in these times; travelling from one country to the other in bio-bubbles. If there is a long tour, you are away from your family for that period. The players can get mentally disturbed. And it can be irritating at times. You have to be in your room, and then, there is performance pressure to play for your country and franchise. But this is the best that we can do. You have to be mentally strong to do this,” said Shami while speaking to Sportstar.

Mohammed Shami updates on his injury concerns

Moving away from the topic of COVID-19 bio bubbles and travel restriction, Shami threw some light on his injury too that he had in Australia. He added that he is doing fine at the moment and only need to learn to recover quickly from niggles. Talking of his current form, he appears in a great rhythm.

“My body is doing good overall. I had an injury after I got hit in Australia, otherwise, the momentum has been good. The only thing is to know how you can recover from niggles. If you need a massage or rest or treatment, you need to understand such things as there is cricket throughout the year. We only have to take care of our bodies,” added Shami.
