The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2022 starting August 27 and young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan happened to be one of the notable omissions. Apart from Ishan, Kerala stumper Sanju Samson also did not find a place in the Indian squad for the upcoming tournament.

After being excluded from India’s Asia Cup squad, Ishan Kishan has ensured that the huge setback did not affect him as he shared motivational lines from a rap song as a self-healing technique in order to charge him up for giving his best on the cricket field going forward with the T20 World Cup in focus.

Ishan Kishan reacts positively after being omitted from Asia Cup 2022

Reacting to his exclusion from Asia Cup 2022, Ishan Kishan shared some motivational lines from the rap song Bella – Humble Poet on his Instagram story.

The lines read:

“Ki Ab Aisa Banna Nahi, Bhale Ghayal Ho Jaana

Tujhe Phool Samjhe Koi Toh, Tu Fire Ho Jaana

Bella Peeche Rehna, Magar Sab Sambhal”

Inconsistency might have been the reason behind the southpaw’s omission from the Asia Cup that is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from August 27 to September 11. Kishan has not been featuring regularly in India’s bilateral T20I series and he had only played one match each against  England and West Indies respectively.

However, he failed to make the most of the limited opportunities that he got registering scores of eight and 11. Thus, the selectors and the team management might not have been convinced of his lack of form and thus decided to snub him.

Meanwhile, India have Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik as the two frontline wicketkeepers for the tournament. The Men in Blue will be led by Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul, who makes his return to international cricket. Nonetheless, all eyes will be on batting megastar Virat Kohli, who would be expected to regain his mojo on the 22 yards. India will begin their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on August 28.
