Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has made quite an impact in the year 2019, as he ended up with 99 wickets to his name across formats. He also was one of the shining lights for the team during their World Cup campaign in which they failed to defend their title in England and Wales. Not only this, but Cummins also made a big splash in the IPL 2020 auction as well.

As soon as his name came up for the bidding, franchises were on it like fire as the bids started piling up like crazy. It was Kolkata Knight Riders that ended up buying the fast bowler for a record INR 15.50 crores, a record sum for any foreign player ever.

“I’m really excited for the season,” says Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins was previously bought by the Shah Rukh Khan-Juhi Chawla co-owned franchise in the 2014 season. When he arrived in Mumbai for the first ODI between India and Australia, a fan gifted him a KKR jersey from the 2015 edition, making the bowler nostalgic. The KKR franchise posted a video of Cummins holding up the jersey gifted to him.

In the video, Cummins said, “I’m here back in India and I’ve run into a fan and he’s gifted me this old KKR shirt from 2015. It brings back a lot of memories. I’m really excited for the season. Got some great memories at Eden Gardens. As a kid, I remember watching lots of cricket played there and just seeing 100,000 Indian fans going crazy.”

“And to be there in 2014 and 2015, winning in 2014, going back there for a ceremony and the stadium was packed! Just to welcome us home. “I absolutely love it there. Can’t wait to make a lot more memories this season,” he further added.

Cummins also said that the team will be looking to add another title to their tally of two IPL wins coming in 2012 and 2014. KKR bolstered their batting in the auction by buying England sensation Tom Banton and World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan as well.
