Legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar yesterday said that parents in India should treat both girl and a boy equally. On the occasion of World Children’s Day, Tendulkar played cricket with a group of specially-abled children. He also said that the current generation is much more confident and smarter than the past generations.

Often, the former Indian skipper can be seen playing outdoor sports with his son and their friends. Tendulkar had shared many stories of his kids and how they responded to his activity that revolved around cricket during his playing days.

“It’s all about bonding with your children, loving them, hugging them. The first 1000 days (in raising a child) are very crucial. It is our responsibility to treat both (boys and girls) equally,” said Tendulkar on the occasion of World Children’s Day.

The only cricketer with 100 tons at the international level, Tendulkar posted a picture of him and his two kids on Twitter. Today’s generation is confident. You see actually a three-year-old kid sitting in front of the computer comfortably. He knows exactly what to do. He knows how to use a mobile phone whether it is calling or texting. All these fancy gadgets give them new perspective,” said Tendulkar,

“They grow up so fast, but they will always be our babies. Happy #WorldChildrensDay to my beautiful kids, Sara and Arjun,” he wrote alongside the picture.” Tendulkar, the ambassador of UNICEF said.

Every kid needs love and support: Tendulkar

The 44-year-old had earlier joined a special UNICEF campaign, along with some of the popular names like David Beckham, Novak Djokovic to highlight the role played by fathers in children’s growth. “When I was a young child, my father gave me the right amount of love, freedom and support to shape who I am today,” Tendulkar had said in a statement. “Every kid needs protection, love, good food and play to support growth and development.”
