Matthew Renshaw has impressed everyone with his batting. In the first Test, he batted long and well on a pitch where India lasted for only 71 overs combining both the innings. The 20-year-old falls into that category. He has already scored two brilliant half-centuries in this series and scored a crucial one today.
The left-handed batsman was resilient and played a gritty 60 run knock today. After the day’s play, Renshaw was caught by Michael Clarke and answered a few questions about his knock. Renshaw sounded quite positive in his interview as he looked forward to day 3. He talked about the challenge of batting the whole day which they did. He said, “It was a really good day for us. Challenge was to bat full day and we did that pretty well. The Indian fast bowlers bowled quite well and didn’t give us much. Just a tough grind. ”
The Australian opener also talked about their preparations before the Test series. He said that the hard work is now paying off as he hopes to have two good days to retain the series. The six feet tall batsman also talked about adjusting to the conditions. “We did a lot of work before the series and it is paying dividends for the bowlers and the batsmen. Hopefully, we have a couple of good days and retain the series. The conditions here are a lot different, we need to try and adjust to every situation,” Renshaw said after the day’s play.

Coming on to personal achievements, when Clarke asked him about how he felt about representing his country in the Tests he was all smiles. Renshaw mentioned that he is still coming to terms with it and is enjoying every bit of it. He said “I probably haven’t come to grips with it. I take one day at a time. I’m enjoying myself and that’s what I’m doing.”
Indian skipper Virat Kohli tried his best to unsettle the Aussie opener verbally. During the post-day press conference, Renshaw said as per the quotes on cricket.com.au, “I was just trying to enjoy it and laugh at what (Kohli) was saying because some of it was quite funny.”
“He was just reminding me to run off and go to the toilet again which happened in Pune, so it was quite funny.
“There was a bit of talk but I think that’s because just (Smith and Kohli) are trying to unnerve each other and try and get under the skin.
“It was all good fun and a good contest out there.
“It was really loud out there when (Kohli) was doing that (pumping up the crowd) but it’s something I’m probably not used to.”
