India faced their first-ever defeat in the shortest format of the game against Bangladesh in 1st T20I on Sunday, November 3 in Delhi. Indian cricket fans were shocked the way hosts lost the match as the away side coped with the conditions better and executed their plans effectively. Also, Team India got criticized for its poor performance. But, who knew that the former Indian opener Virender Sehwag will also get trolled, following the defeat.

It was Mushfiqur Rahim, who anchored Bangladesh to a historic win over India by a margin of seven wickets. And, now, Men in Blue will have an uphill task in the upcoming two matches, in Rajkot and Nagpur.

Virender Sehwag and his commercial

Ahead of the T20I series against Bangladesh, Star Sports had released a commercial starring Virender Sehwag. In the commercial, he took a cheeky dig at the away side for not winning any matches against Team India in the past. The ad also spoke about the “Nagin dance” that got popular from Nidahas Trophy.

However, the advertisement didn’t go well as Rohit Sharma and Co. lost the series opener. And, minutes after Bangladesh winning the match. The fans went berserk and trolled the former Indian cricketer, Sehwag for starring in the commercial in which he quoted, “What Bangladesh Cricket Team will do if they win their first-ever T20I against India,”. And, many thought that it is humiliating to watch such commercials.

How the game panned out?

The hosts got to a poor start in the match as they lost their skipper Rohit Sharma in the first over of the match. After that, the Bangladesh bowlers kept on taking the wickets in a consistent fashion throughout the innings. But a responsible 42-run knock from Shikhar Dhawan followed by a late blitz from Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar helped India post a challenging total of 148 runs on the scoreboard.

Bangladesh also lost their first wicket early, but a partnership between Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar of 44 runs for the second wicket kept the visitors ahead. Later on, Rahim and Mahmuddulah joined the party and finished the match successfully.
