On Sunday, June 14, Sushant Singh Rajput, the 34-year-old Indian actor, passed away after reportedly committing suicide. The news has come as a shocker to many and condolences have poured in from every nook and corner of the country. He was battling with depression for the last five to six months and it goes without saying, that he wasn’t in the healthiest state of minds.

Last year in September, he featured in his last movie, Chhichhore, also featuring Shraddha Kapoor, the daughter of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor. In the movie, he talked about how ‘resorting to suicide isn’t a solution’. But this time around, he couldn’t survive the heat of mental pressure.

In the meantime, Robin Uthappa, the Indian cricketer, dropped in a tweet for the actor. He said that speaking out on matters is importance for our own well-being. Uthappa also said that it’s okay for a person to not be in good shape for some time.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “I cannot reiterate this enough. WE NEED TO SPEAK ABOUT WHAT WE FEEL WITHIN. we are stronger than we understand and IT IS COMPLETELY OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY. #depression #MentalHealthMatters,”

Sushant came to the fore with Kai Po Che in 2013 where he played the role of a cricket aspirant. Though the movie didn’t have some of the big names in the industry, it garnered loads of praises from the audience. Then in the very next year, he acted in PK alongside Amir Khan and Anushka Sharma, though his role was for a very limited period of time.

It was in 2016 when he managed to hog the headlines. He enacted the role of MS Dhoni in the movie MS Dhoni– The Untold Story. In the film, he showed how the Indian cricketer had to strain during his initial days to come up the ranks. The movie also features the six Dhoni hit off Nuwan Kulasekara.

It also spoke about his love-life and how he got married to Sakshi Dhoni before the 2011 World Cup in the Indian sub-continent. Before coming on the big screen, Sushant also acted in a few TV serials, including Pavitra Rishta, alongside Ankita Lokhande.
