England and the Nottinghamshire pace bowler Jake Ball has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to the back injury. He sustained it during the T20 Blast game against the Derbyshire earlier this month. He hasn’t played a game since August 2 and was hoping to get fit in time for his side’s upcoming fixture. Nottinghamshire are scheduled to face Somerset in the quarterfinal of the T20 competition on Sunday.

Ball played only six matches this season in the T20 Blast and could pick only three wickets while conceding run at an economy of 9.26. But he has done well for them in the County Championship for the Notts with 28 scalps to his name at an average of 22.25 in six games. If fit, he would’ve also been in line for England’s Test team given that they are currently playing in the five-match series against India.

I am really disappointed

Jake Ball was visibly disappointed as yet another season was ruined for him due to an injury. His career has seen so many ups and downs so far and he has been prone to injuries. “I’m extremely disappointed to get the news, I’d hoped to be back for the final parts of the season but unfortunately that isn’t possible. “I’ll be following and supporting the boys and hopefully we can get through to Finals Day and have a go at defending our title,” he was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Ball was keen on working hard on his rehab program and wanted to come back fully fit going into the next season. “For me I’ll be working hard on my rehab so that I can have a full winter programme and be raring to go for next season,” the 277-year-old added.

He has played four Tests, 18 One-Day Internationals and a couple of T20Is for his country. He recently made his debut in the shortest format during the T20I series against India in July.
