James Anderson reveals his favourite cricketer between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith

Steve Smith and Virat Kohli have been fulcrums of their respective sides. Both have racked up runs at will and are currently the holders of a plethora of records. Kohli made his debut back in 2008 and hasn’t looked back ever since. Previously, he was touted to be a better player in limited overs cricket, however, steadfastly, he has carved a reputation for being a reliable Test batsman as well.

The 29-year old batsman scored six double centuries in no time in the longest format of the sport. He also boats of 35 centuries in ODIs and is speculated to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record in the near future. He is presently the skipper of the Indian team in all formats of cricket and is scheduled to play in India’s upcoming tour of England which commences on July.

Steve Smith, on the other hand, has been one of Australia’s most efficient batsmen, especially in Test cricket. The Sydney-born cricketer has a stupendous average of 61 in Tests and has turned out to be a thorn in the flesh for several opponents. However, the recent times haven’t been overwhelming for the batsman. He was involved in the act of ball-tampering during a Test in South Africa.

The tough choice for Anderson

Subsequently, he was handed a ban of one year by Cricket Australia (CA). He will make a comeback in the inaugural Global T20 Canada league this summer. Nevertheless, parking the controversies aside, there isn’t any doubt surrounding the skills of the individual.

Recently, James Anderson was asked to pick his favourite player between Kohli and Anderson in a fun show named ‘You Have To Answer’ by ESPNCricinfo. The choice was a difficult and understandably so. However, he picked Virat, which is definitely a delightful news for the Indian fans.
