Alastair Cook is playing in his final international match currently in London and has scored a half-century so far. His retirement news broke through a couple of days ago and the tributes to England’s best opener in Tests poured on every platform. While all of them were busy praising him for his amazing prowess with the bat over the last 12 years, James Anderson has trolled Cook in a playful manner and even went on to say that he should’ve retired two years ago.

The 33-year-old was going through a barren run with the bat for a long time now and even the ongoing series wasn’t fruitful for him. He was under immense pressure and somewhere down the mind, everyone was feeling that the veteran has gone past his best. However, Cook himself realised the same and decided to bow out of the international arena after the ongoing Oval Test.

Who cares mate?

James Anderson, however, was in the mood to troll Alastair Cook it seems. In a video posted by the official Twitter handle of Test Match Special, England’s pace spearhead congratulated the left-handed batsman tamely for a wonderful career and then intentionally kept his mobile camera on and tried to say a few controversial words about him hilariously. However, the tweet was deleted later.

“Congratulations mate, it’s been a right laugh. Well done pal. That’ll do. Don’t even like the bloke anyway. All he bangs on about is farming this, farming that. It’s lambing season. Who cares mate? Bore off. He should have retired two years ago,” he was heard saying after which Anderson acted as if he didn’t know that the camera was still on.

This was certainly a good attempt from Anderson to take a cheeky dig at Cook while all were praising him. However, both of them are very good friends and certainly must have enjoyed their time together in the dressing room.
