Jason Roy wants the Delhi Daredevils to get back to the winning ways

Delhi Daredevils at the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season had all the right ingredients to initiate a successful campaign. They had picked a successful and experienced captain in Gautam Gambhir, retained and bought some top-class players in batting and bowling departments but as the season got underway things haven’t quite fallen in place for the team.

Among their auction picks was England opener, Jason Roy. The 27-year-old has played three matches for the team and first up against Mumbai Indians had announced his arrival in style. He scored a magnificent 91* at the Wankhede and helped Daredevils to their first and thus far the only victory in IPL 2018. However, he has only managed single-digit scores thereafter.

DD today play their first home game at the Feroz Shah Kotla and Roy posted a message for his team on Twitter. The opener wants the Daredevils to put up a show for the local fans and wants them to get back to winning ways. He wrote – “First home game of the season for the @DelhiDaredevils, let’s put on a show and get back to winning ways!”

DD vs KXIP

Delhi have struggled to get their combination right and having played 5 matches they’ve won only 1, with five defeats and a net run rate of -1.324 they sit at the bottom of the points table.

It is high time for Delhi to turn things around as each defeat here on will spoil their chances of making it to the playoffs of the tournament. They are up against the high riding Kings XI Punjab tonight.

KXIP have 8 points and are second to Chennai Super Kings only on the basis of the Net Run Rate. With Chris Gayle and KL Rahul at the top and the likes of Andrew Tye and Mujeeb Ur Rahman taking charge of the bowling responsibilities, it will be a tough night for the Daredevils.
