Jasprit Bumrah has been exceptional off the field just as much as he has been on the field as despite being entrusted with so much trust and responsibility so early in his career, he has handled the fame and success very gracefully. As understood by glimpses of his personality on social media, post-match presentations, and interviews, he has come off as candid and mature.
In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Bumrah opened up about his cricketing experience thus far and went on to add an interesting idea that would benefit people and the cricket fraternity if free food can be one factor of bringing in crowds in the stadium.
Among other things he mentioned, he added that playing cricket for India was his childhood dream. Apart from IPL, Bumrah also takes a keen interest in the Big Bash League (BBL). Mitchell Johnson, for his aggression on the field, was termed as his all-time favorite. In fact, Johnson was associated with Mumbai franchise when Bumrah was just starting off. Bumrah also went to give his mantra of bowling accurate Yorker where he said maintaining a steady head is the key bowling a perfect Yorker.
Bumrah – The quintessential leader of the MI bowling attack
At 24, Bumrah is now the leader of the Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack now that his mentor Lasith Malinga has called time on his IPL career. Bumrah had an off-day against the season opener against CSK where he was hit for runs but skipper Rohit Sharma backed him to come good in the games to come after a few lessons were learned in that match.
He said, “He is a very strong character. Games like this teach you more as an individual and he has played enough now to understand how he needs to come back from those situations. He also knows that there is a lot of pressure on him, as in responsibility. He is there to enjoy that moment, and he wants to take it up as a challenge. Games like this will happen but again, he will still be our best bowler,” as reported by HT.
