Glenn McGrath, former Australian pacer and one of the most lethal bowlers in the world to have played the game has found a bright spot in Jasprit Bumrah. Glenn had said long back that the unorthodox bowling action of Jasprit can make him a potent bowler. Bumrah who is a part of Mumbai Indians was instrumental in the victory of his team, helping them lift the trophy for the third time.

McGrath who is the director of MRF Pace Foundation is delighted at how Bumrah has shaped himself into a great bowler. Speaking on his bowling, the Aussie pointed out that Bumrah bowls a good line and generates excellent pace. He can be handy in his short bursts at the death.

McGrath praises Jasprit

“He is a very improved bowler and his style of bowling is perfect for shorter formats. The way he bowls at the death is impressive. In addition to the fine length, he also generates good pace. He can come up with occasional yorkers as well. He is a quality pacer and I hope he continues to improve,” he told the Media.

Bumrah will play for the first time in a Champions Trophy. The English conditions are very tricky. So he has to acclimatize himself very well to get the fruits of his labor according to McGrath. He describes India-Pakistan matches to be highly volatile, irrespective of where they are played. Though India had an upper hand for a long time, Pakistan can be a surprise package sometimes.

On India’s first clash with Pakistan

“It’s always a big game whenever India plays Pakistan. Although not the same powerful force they once used to be, Pakistan still has some quality bowlers and an experienced batting line-up. You might not know Pakistan may just pull off a surprise on their day,” the Aussie opined.

McGrath has pinned high hopes on the Indian bowling unit. He reiterates that in the past 2-3 years Indian bowlers have upped their performances and are now heading the echelons of bowling. These performances have boosted their confidence and morale and they will go strong into the first match.
