Jasprit Bumrah replaces Mohammed Shami in India T20I squad

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Jasprit Bumrah in the India T20I team as the replacement for Mohammed Shami, who has been ruled out due to injury. The Indian team is scheduled to play three Twenty20 matches starting January 26, 2016.
The Gujarat fast-bowler has been in tremendous form recently in domestic cricket. In this tourney, he has picked up 14 wickets at an average of 15.42 and maintained an economy rate of 6.23. He has bowled 34.4 overs and conceded 216 runs with a best of 3/10. His strike rate is 14.85.
Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker in the 2015 Vijay Hazare Trophy that Gujarat won defeating Delhi in the final. He took 21 wickets at 16.09 with an impressive economy rate of 4.02. His best spell was 5/28 that he produced in the final and he also registered a four-four in the tourney. The pace and accuracy have been brilliant in domestic cricket.
Bumrah will leave for Australia on January 22 along with other T20I team members – Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Suresh Raina and Hardik Pandya. There is no timeline set for the return of Shami, and India will have to spend some nervous moment as they gear up for the ICC World T20 2016.
India will be playing three T20Is against Australia after the completion of their three-match One-Day International (ODI) series Down Under. The three T20Is will be played at Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, on January 26, 29 and 31 respectively. Bumrah came into prominence with impressive performances in the T20 format. He plays for the Mumbai Indians’ franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
