Jasprit Bumrah has undoubtedly been one of the very few young cricketers who has made a reputation for himself in a short span of time. In his brief career so far, Bumrah has already set his goals high and is on the way to becoming one of the very best death bowlers in the world. He has been entrusted with death overs while playing for India and Mumbai Indians and he has delivered successfully.

In the recent clash against Gujarat Lions which went to the super over, it was the exceptional skills of Bumrah which saved Mumbai from the blushes. Chasing 12 in the super over, the duo of Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch failed to put bat on ball and was severely bamboozled by his Yorkers and slower ones. Despite conceding a wide and a no-ball early on the over, the lanky fast bowler held his nerves and delivered the killer punch.

Despite Bumrah remaining calm, his family wasn’t able to watch the match as the tension for them was unbearable. “They weren’t watching, because whenever such a thing happens, my mom can’t watch, she starts to pray all the time! My family wasn’t able to watch it because it was too much tension for them to bear,” Bumrah was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

“My friends ask me all the time: ‘How do you deal with so much pressure? We’ll faint if we were in your place.’ I tell them that this is my job, this is what I get paid for,” Bumrah added. He also spoke at length about his attributes which has arguably made him the best death bowler in the world at the moment.

“I started playing with the ‘season-ball’ quite late. I used to play a lot of tennis-ball cricket till my tenth standard, which I enjoyed. Over there, there’s no length or slower ball. There’s only ball which you’ve to bowl to get wickets – the yorker, otherwise, you’ll get hit because of the bounce. I was playing day in and day out there, bowling with the tennis ball. That could be a reason I’m able to bowl sometimes in the pressure situations.”
