Cricket Australia has been hit with a ball-tampering controversy and the board already banned the captain, vice-captain Steve Smith and David Warner for a one-year period. But, the real damage control is yet to come as their prime partner Magellan snapped the deal with CA that cost the board $ 20 Million.

The trio of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft left to Australia from South Africa. Smith and Bancroft attended the press conference after reaching their homeland. Apologetic Bancroft termed the incident as ‘regretful moment of his life’.

Smith looking forward

The opening batsman said, “I will focus on my actions and my conduct going forward. Not a second has gone by where I haven’t wanted to turn back time. I will regret this for the rest of my life. I just want to show how sorry I am, and at the end of the day, they are my actions that I am accountable for, and they don’t reflect on my values and what I have grown up to be. It is something I am very ashamed of and so sorry for.”

Teary-eyed Steve Smith later faced the media and took the whole responsibility on his shoulders and he doesn’t want to blame any of his teammates for the scandal, “To all my team-mates, to fans of cricket all over the world, to all Australians who are disappointed and angry, I am sorry. I want to make clear that as captain of the Australian cricket team I take full responsibility.”

The press conferences went viral on social media and many die-hard fans and cricketers reacted and felt bad for the Aussie skipper Steve Smith. One among these is the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. He took to Twitter and came up with an inspiring quote.

‘When someone does something wrong, don’t forget all the things they did right,’ read his tweet.
