Andre Russel, this year, has been the glue for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He has won the Man of the Match in four of the five victories team has registered and his recent heroics came on the eve of his birthday on Sunday. Russell turned 31 on Monday just after he received the Man of the Match award and his wife Jassym Lora was extremely delighted for him.
She has been travelling with the Jamaican all over during the whole season this year and enjoying her husband’s brutal batting. Russell now is the second highest run-getter of the season with 486 runs in 11 matches at an impeccable average of 69.43 and an unthinkable strike-rate of 207.69. He has so far smacked 50 massive sixes this season to go with 29 fours as well.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of his birthday, his wife, Jassym Lora has put a wonderful message for her husband and blessed him with her wishes. “Oh my sweet husband, I’m not just wishing for you to have a great birthday, I’m praying that you’re blessed with your heart’s desires.! Happy birthday Mi Amor! #happybirthdayhusband,” the message read.
Here’s the message:
KKR alive in the tournament
After all the controversy and comments in the public from Andre Russell, he was sent in to bat at number three against the Mumbai Indians (MI) by the KKR team management. The stage was also set for him with Shubman Gill and Chris Lynn adding 96 runs in less than 10 overs for the opening wicket.
Russell came out, took his time and then literally went berserk. He was only 6 off 12 balls at one stage and finished with an unbeaten 80 after facing 40 deliveries. KKR posted a mammoth total of 232 runs in 20 overs and the score was eventually enough for them to stay alive in the tournament. Russell will be hoping to bat the same way he does and help his team qualify for the playoffs.
