India are currently playing in a five-match Test series against England on English soil. While the squads for the first three Tests at Edgbaston, Lord’s and Trent Bridge were previously announced, the team for the upcoming two matches at The Rose Bowl and Kennington Oval is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the announcement of the squad has been postponed for a few days. It has been learned that the reason behind the same is for reinstating Jatin Paranjpe and Gagan Khoda, the former Indian cricketers, as the senior national selectors by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“The meeting has been postponed by a few days, as we need to give time to Khoda and Paranjpe to be available to join the panel,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in The Times of India (TOI).

We’ve sent them the mail

They were earlier ousted from the panel as they weren’t former Test cricketers as per the Lodha Committee recommendations. However, following the modifications of the Lodha recommendations by the Supreme Court, the pair will re-join MSK Prasad, Sarandeep Singh and Devang Gandhi in the panel.

In the meantime, Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman will choose the fifth and last member of the junior selection committee. Previously, reports of change of the CAC personnel sparked. But they will hold their place until the Board’s Annual Meeting.

“We’ve sent them the mail in which we’ve given them a few names, from which they can choose the new junior selector. The Supreme Court had asked these three members to continue till the AGM (Board’s Annual Meeting). However, it’s up to the CAC members whether they want to continue.

We’ve sent them an e-mail today about appointing a fresh selector. Their response to this mail would determine whether they want to continue there or not,” the BCCI official added.
