Javed Afridi is a Pakistani businessman, entrepreneur and is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Haier Pakistan. He also happens to be the younger sibling of Shahid Afridi. The 32-year is the current owner of the Peshawar Zalmi team in the prestigious Pakistan Super League (PSL). Recently, he donated USD 10,000 for the Darren Sammy Foundation and showed his generosity as an individual.

Afridi took to Twitter and expressed his delight and also hailed Darren Sammy, the skipper of the Zalmi, for this noble deed. Here’s the Tweet from the owner of the Zalmi.

The Darren Sammy foundation was launched in August 2016 at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa & Beach Resort. It’s a non-profitable organization which aims towards the development of underprivileged youngsters who wish to make a name for themselves in sports. Darren Sammy, during the launch-event, also mentioned the company as his long-term goal.

Sammy’s brilliance with one leg

From the cricketing perspective as well, Sammy has shown excellence. The skipper recently played a match-winning hand of 16 runs off four balls in the closing stages of the game against the Sarfraz Ahmed-led Quetta Gladiators. He played with an injured leg and telecasted grit and determination. The all-round cricketer injured his leg during the Quetta Gladiators innings owing to which he had to go off the field. He took charge with the Zalmi requiring 16 runs off seven balls.

However, he dished out three marvelous strokes to guide his team to a stupendous victory. The winning shot came against Anwar Ali when Sammy muscled the fast-bowler down the ground for a boundary. Quite rightly, he has adjudged the Player of the Match. The Zalmi will now face Multan Sultans in their upcoming game at the Sharjah Cricket Ground. They are currently sitting in the fourth position in the league table and will be hoping to climb up the ladder.
