Jeet Raval hopes to become New Zealand opener in all formats

Jeet Raval has become a permanent member of the New Zealand Test set up. He has impressed a lot of people by scoring six half-centuries in just nine matches. Jeet Raval has cemented his spot at the top of the order in the longest format of the game but now he wants to do the same in limited overs.

Good performance in the practice game

The left-handed batsman starred in the as the New Zealand XI team beat Windies by 6 wickets in a practice game. He looked very impressive as he scored 169 runs in just 150 balls and helped his team to chase down Windies’ target with ease.

Raval is known as a conservative batsman but his innings proved that he can also perform in the shorter formats. The left-handed batsman is not picked for the ODI series vs Windies as George Worker is the preferred option for the Blackcaps.

“I would love to be part of that set-up and I know I’m playing Test cricket at the moment, but it would be nice to be playing T20 and one-day cricket at the same time as well because it’s a lot of fun.Hopefully, I can be part of that set-up in the next couple of years.” Jeet Raval said as quoted by the news hub

Jeet Raval has unimpressive list A career

The left-handed batsman knows that he has to do a lot of hard work if he wants to break into the New Zealand limited overs set-up. Kiwi opener has only managed to score 1 century in his 40 match ODI career.

Jeet Raval admitted that his record in the domestic limited overs matches is not enough to warrant an ODI call-up. He said that he wants to do well in the coming months to impress the selectors.

“I can’t say that I deserve an opportunity, but it’s up to me over the next few months that when there’s a lot of white-ball cricket coming up to put up numbers like this. For me, it’s all about going out there and performing for my team and making a match-winning contribution every time I go out there.” Raval added
