Jofra Archer’s bid to clean a fish tank in his house has now resulted in an injury to his bowling hand. And now, England’s Director of cricket, Ashley Giles has confirmed the same in a chat with BBC Radio.

Giles also stated that even though it might sound like a conspiracy, that is exactly what happened. The former England cricketer further added that he knows that there will be a lot of chatter on Twitter once the news comes out in the open.

Giles also revealed that Archer’s surgery is done, and concluded by stating that the doctors even found a small piece of glass that was still stuck in his tendon.

“He’s got a fish tank, dropped the fish tank, and cut his hand. This is going to sound like an awful conspiracy and I know what’s going to happen on Twitter straight away when I say this. But it’s true, it’s not a conspiracy, it was a fish tank. He was cleaning at home. He’s been in surgery today and he’s come out of it well. They’ve operated and actually, I think they found a small fragment of glass still in the tendon,” stated Giles in a chat on BBC Radio.

Jofra Archer will also miss the first half of the IPL

Also, it was earlier confirmed that Archer will miss the first half of the 14th edition of the IPL. The Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) pacer is still recuperating from an injury to his elbow. Archer was the lynchpin of the Rajasthan side in the 2020 edition of the IPL.

The pacer was the leading wicket-taker for the ‘Men in Pink’ in the 13th IPL edition that was held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The right-arm speedster scalped 20 wickets for the Rajasthan outfit last year and took his wickets at an excellent strike rate of 16.70. He also averaged just 18.25 in the 13th IPL edition.

Archer was last seen in action during the five-match T20I series against England. The 25-year-old picked up seven wickets in the series and scalped his wickets at a strike rate of 17.14. He did not feature in the three-match ODI series against India.
