The second Ashes Test at Lord’s ended in a draw after a dramatic fifth day’s play. It was all about Jofra Archer in this game and his duel with Steve Smith will be remembered for a long time. He made his Test debut in this game and delivered 44 overs out of 142 overs which Australia batted across two innings. Archer returned with the figures of 5/91 in the match and left everyone in his awe with his bowling.

The Bajan-born fast bowler struck the Australian batsmen on the head and body 11 times and clearly has changed the dynamics of this Ashes series. He also clocked 96.1 mph at one stage during his spell on the fourth day which was also the fastest delivery of the match. Moreover, he averaged a stunning 92.79 during his 25th over in Australia’s first innings and is also the fastest over ever by an England bowler in Tests.

Tired Archer

No wonder Jofra Archer had a tiring debut and was delighted to take some much-needed rest with a quick turnaround between the two matches. After a tense finish to the game, he shared a hilarious meme on Twitter of not being able to get out of his bed on the following morning. His heroics on Twitter are well known to everyone and none of his present tweets go unnoticed nowadays and clearly, this one too was trending in seconds.

Here’s his tweet:

The third Test is set to be played at Headingley in Leeds from August 22 and with not much rest between the two matches, Jofra Archer will be looking forward to having some time off before returning to the nets. Australia are still leading the five-match series by 1-0 but with Steve Smith doubtful for the Leeds Test, the dynamics have certainly changed.

Though Marnus Labuschagne, Smith’s concussion substitute, batted superbly on the final day, even the other batsmen should step up in Smith’s absence.
