The ninth encounter of the IPL 2020 between two batting-heavy sides– Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab– turned out to be an absolute run-fest. Sharjah Cricket Stadium rolled out a high-scoring thriller which consisted of several individual batting performances.

It all started with the Mayank Agarwal-KL Rahul pair demolishing Rajasthan Royals’ bowling unit. Stitching a record 183-run opening stand, the Karnataka duo smashed bowlers all over the ground. Mayank also slammed second-fastest IPL hundred by an Indian in the tournament. On the back of Rahul’s 69 and Agarwal’s 106, KXIP amassed a dominant 223-run total on the board.

In response, Royals also put up a robust batting show. Sanju Samson, continuing his stellar form, smashed 85 off 42 deliveries along with skipper Steve Smith, who scored a 27-ball 50. But it was Rahul Tewatia’s late show which shattered KXIP’s hopes of registering a victory.

The 27-year-old Haryana leggie slammed a blistering half-century including five sixes in the 18th over bowled by West Indies speedster Sheldon Cottrell. RR ultimately pulled off a nail-biting finish and hunted down the target with four deliveries to spare.

Nicholas Pooran’s fielding effort was hailed as best by many fans

Twitter, in no time, was flooded with wishes for all batsmen which put up an enthralling show at Sharjah. But keeping aside the batting displays, KXIP’s Nicholas Pooran pulled off a sensational mid-air fielding effort to leave fans stunned.

In the eight over of Rajasthan Royals’ batting, Samson smashed one Murugan Ashwin delivery for a certain six. However, Pooran, who was at the boundary, did something incredible to deny RR the six. The West Indies international stretched into the air and held on to the ball before throwing it back inside the boundary rope. The superhuman effort by Pooran left the entire cricket fraternity in awe and some even labelled it as the best save in the game’s history.

Pooran’s fielding effort earned him accolades from many former cricketers and fans. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar also described it as the best save he has ever seen. “This is the best save I have seen in my life. Simply incredible!!,” Sachin tweeted.

A day after Pooran’s outstanding fielding show against RR, a seven-year-old tweet of Jofra Archer has also started doing rounds on Twitter. The Barbadian-born England pacer has hogged headlines on multiple occasions for his old tweets. Archer is known for his ability to ‘predict’ the future as his old tweets have often surfaced after a particular event.

“Safe flight Pooran,” Archer had tweeted seven years ago in 2013. People were left in splits after seeing Archer’s yet another old tweet linking to a recent happening.
