One of the leading pace bowlers of the Australian limited overs set up, John Hastings, is all set to head back Australia midway through his stint for Worcestershire in the English County season. Hastings injured his foot while playing in a four day fixture for Worcs against Sussex this week. The 31-year old pace bowler was soon sent to the hospital for the MRI scans.

The scans revealed soreness in his foot and that has forced him to head back to Australia for further consultation and treatment. The Worcestershire Head of Medicine and Science Ben Davies confirmed the same as per the quotes in cricket.com.au.

“We sent him for an MRI scan which shows some inflammation through the foot and some stress through a certain bone in his foot. Cricket Australia want him to return back to Australia to do some rehab and potentially get him fit as quick as they can,” he quoted.

Australia’s international commitments

The Worcestershire team Director Steve Rhodes noted that they understand the international commitments that Australia have in the days to come. Hence, John Hastings getting adequate rest before the season commences is the ideal thing for the national side. He further lauded John Hastings as a big match player. He had his words of praises reserved for the tall paceman.

“Cricket Australia have got international cricket coming up (and) they want John back in their care and will be hoping to get him fit and available for selection,” quoted Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes.

“John is a big larger than life character, both in physique but also in stature and respect from the other guys. He gives off confidence to other players and is a very experienced cricketer so all those attributes fulfil his senior role in the dressing room. He is back next year and very much looking forward to that,” he added further.
