The fielding coach of Mumbai Indians and the former cricketer of South Africa – Jonty Rhodes, has been blessed with a ‘baby boy’. He reckons that he has already got the prize before the final.

Rhodes posted a photo on Twitter where he announced the arrival of the newest member of the family. The photo contains his wife, daughter and the newborn child. The caption of the pic read “The prize before the prize @mipaltan? Nathan John “plunged” into the world at 6:20pm on IPL final #poolbirth #earthmother #incredibleindia”.

Two years ago, his wife Melanie had given birth to a daughter whom they named ‘India Rhodes’. The couple named her after the country stating they appreciated the rich culture and geographical diversity of the country. Now they have named their younger son – Nathan John.

Jonty Rhodes has had an indifferent love for India and he has been associated with the IPL for a number of years. He has been doing the duties of being the fielding coach of Mumbai Indians for quite some time. His work shows in the performances of the franchise as a number of acrobatic fielders are studded in the line-up.

Rhodes was known for his incredible abilities in the outfield and he was the one who revolutionized the fielding aspect of the game. Prior to that, only batting and bowling were the qualities that were believed to be important for a cricketer to possess. But his influence brought vitality to the third aspect of the game as well and nowadays, there is so much focus on training players to be good fielders. For any side these days, the fielding coach is as important as a batting or a bowling coach.
