The 10th season of IPL has seen some terrific brand of cricket being dished out by all the 8 teams and as the tournament has approached its business end, only Mumbai Indians with 9 wins has been assured a spot in the playoffs. While Pune and Kolkata are more or less through to the play-offs, Kings XI Punjab’s victory against the Mumbai Indians yesterday has heated up the battle for the 4th spot between KXIP and defending Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Mumbai Indians by far has been the most organised side in the tournament so far and barring a few matches here and there, the blue brigade has shined in all 3 departments of the game. Their fielding standard has been great in this competition so far and former fielding great and currently the fielding coach of Mumbai Indians, Jonty Rhodes lauded some of the players for their brilliant fielding in this ongoing competition.
I am a big fan of Raina: Rhodes
Taking to his twitter handle Jonty wrote, “U know I am a big fan of @ImRaina, but have been really impressed by the fielding of @imjadeja and big @Martyguptill throughout #IPL2017”. Besides revealing that he is a big fan of Suresh Raina in the fielding department, the former legend heaped praises on Ravindra Jadeja and Martin Guptill for their acrobatic fielding in this tournament.

While Raina took a stunner in the first slip during the early part of the tournament, Jadeja has executed some brilliant run outs on a consistent basis. In the match against the Mumbai Indians which went down to the wire and eventually ended in a tie, it was Jadeja’s heroics in the field which helped Gujarat claw their way back but eventually lost in the super over.
Martin Guptill has been another live wire in the field for Kings XI Punjab and plucked on to a stunner in the must-win clash against Mumbai yesterday. Lendl Simmons was going great guns but it was Guptill’s acrobatics in the field which sent him back to the pavilion and helped Punjab storm their way back into the match. It will surely be in contention for the best catch of the season.
