The Indian Premier League 2020 is finally hitting floors from September 19 in UAE across three cities, namely Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai. The cricket maniacs cannot just keep up with their excitement, especially after BCCI released the official schedule on September 6. The board was in preparation to put the schedule on the table last month only, but 13 members from the CSK contingent tested COVID-19 positive, and things took a different turn.

As per BCCI’s policy over the years, the defending champions and runners-up lock horns in the opening game of the tournament. So, in the same light, Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians will take on against MSD led Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the gala event. The rest of the franchises will be seen in action in the subsequent days.

Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab will get in action on the second day of the tournament, and players of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Rajasthan Royals will kick off their journey on day three. The Kolkata Knight Riders will be seen on the field at last as their game begins on September 23.

Right after the much-awaited schedule was released by BCCI, Chennai Super Kings posted a message for their arch-rivals MI on their Twitter handle which read- “Just one call away now… #CUSoon #StartTheWhistles #Yellove #WhistlePodu.”

Here is the Tweet by CSK

The picture in the post showed Rohit Sharma and MSD in their pure excited state during the toss ceremony. Being two of the most successful teams in the tournament, they enjoy healthy competition against each other. Though CSK have qualified for playoffs each and every time they’ve been part of the mega event, MI have the honour of lifting the trophy maximum times in IPL.

It becomes interesting to note that MI has beaten the Yellow Army thrice in the final. In 2017, they superseded Rising Pune Supergiant in the finals, which was also led by MS Dhoni. MI holds a 17-11 lead over MS Dhoni & co. Both the teams will be stepping in the field without having some of their key players in their backyard.
