Justin Langer inducted into Australian Cricket hall of fame for his contribution to the sport

Former Australian opener and the current head coach, Justin Langer has been inducted into the Australian cricket hall of fame for his immense contributions to the country’s success in terms of coaching and his batting attributes. The 51-year-old made his international debut in 1993 and scored 7696 runs in 103 Tests at an average of 45.3. Langer was one of the key players at the top of the order in the famous Australian era in the 2000s that dominated the world for a considerable period of time.

Langer took over the reins as Australia’s head coach role when the team was completely shattered with the sandpaper gate incident in 2018 and he has done a fine job in rebuilding the fame of the side. The left-hander took Australia to their first-ever T20 World Cup victory a few months back and followed it up with a thrashing 4-0 win over England in the recent Ashes series.

Peter King, Chairman of the Australian hall of fame, credited Langer to be a vital cog in the success of the Australian team in the last few months especially and acknowledged his achievements as a player as well. Langer had been under huge pressure for the relationship with his players as a lot of controversies popped up during his first few series as a coach, but he battled through it in the best way possible.

“Justin’s contribution to Australian cricket spans across four separate decades. First as a player, as part of one of the most successful teams that world cricket has ever seen. As a coach, he entered the role at a time of great need and leads the Australian Men’s Cricket Team with great distinction, a team which the Australian public is very proud of.” Peter King told as quoted by Cricbuzz

Peter did remind of Langer’s commitment to the Australian cricket team’s success stretched to the last four decades and is expected to continue as well. His next assignment will be the tour to Pakistan which happens to be a historic series as the Australian side hasn’t toured the subcontinent nation since 1998.
