Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal was recently in the news after he unleashed an outburst against the Misbah-ul-Haq-led selection committee and Pakistan Cricket Board after he was once again overlooked from the T20I squad against Bangladesh.

Akmal, who is the only Asian wicket-keeper to notch-up more than 900 dismissals in First-Class Cricket has been knocking on the door of the national side on the back of truckload of runs in domestic and franchise-based cricket.

The controversial wicketkeeper-batsman was the second-highest run-getter- 906 runs at an average of 60.40 with the help of three hundred and as many half-centuries. Akmal had lashed out at the Misbah-ul-Haq-led selection committee, asking whether he has to go to Australia or India to get into the national side, while admitting that only Prime Minister Imran Khan can help him at the moment.

The former opener is quite active on social media where he constantly talks about the global happenings in cricket and also interacts with fans on a regular basis. Akmal did the same on Sunday and what followed was a barrage of questions and some interesting answers.

One of the fans asked: “Currently, who’s the best fast bowler in the world?” To which Kamran had no hesitation in saying that Australia’s Mitchell Starc- the leading wicket-taker of the past two World Cups and India’s Jasprit Bumrah- the current No.1 ranked ODI bowler in the world- as the two premier fast bowlers in the world currently.

Akmal also revealed that he enjoys Rohit Sharma hitting sixes when asked to name one batsman he enjoys watching hitting the maximums. The former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman revealed that Test cricket is his favourite format while also opening about the favourite and saddest moments of his life thus far.

Coming to Akmal’s outburst against the Misbah-ul-Haq-led selection committee, the former opener blamed Misbah for overlooking the domestic performers where he gave examples of Abid Ali, Fawad Alam.

“There are many players like me who are deserving, like Fawad Alam, look at his performances. Am I talking without performances? There’s a World Cup coming up, I have performed in PSL, and in domestic in all formats and I am a top performer. Misbah should look at these things,” Akmal had said.
