Karnataka Premier League 2017 auctions to be held on August 6

The 2017 edition of the Karnataka Premier League promises to be a bigger and better affair than the previous editions. The auctions for the 6th edition of the popular domestic T20 league is set to get underway on August 6. As per the reports in starofmysore.com, the Karnataka Premier League auctions 2017 will see as many as 215 players go under the hammer. The auctions will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium at 11 am.

Veteran broadcaster and sports commentator, Charu Sharma, will be the auctioneer for the event this year as well. The season will be sponsored by Karbonn Smartphones and the tournament will be known as Karbonn Smartphones Karnataka Premier League. There will be seven participating teams – Belagavi Panthers, Bijapur Bulls, Bellary Tuskers, Hubli Tigers, Mysuru warriors, Namma Shivamogga, and Kalyani Blasters Bengaluru.

The 215 players expected to go under the hammer have been divided in two pools. The marquee players will be in the Pool A. There are 33 players in this list. The remaining players will be in Pool B. The minimum bid amount for the players in Pool A will be INR 50000 and the minimum amount for the players in Pool B will be INR 20000. Each team will be allowed to bid for not more than 5 players from the Pool A.

The price purse with each team will be INR 18 Lakh for Pool A players and INR 12 Lakh for Pool B players. If a marquee player goes unsold, he will go under the hammer again in second round after the completion of auction of Pool B players. This time, the base price will be set to INR 25000. Each team can comprise of a maximum of 18 players and a minimum of 15 players.
