Kesrick Williams has recently grabbed the headlines in the West Indies’ T20I series against India. However, it was due to his on-field banter with Virat Kohli, the Men in Blue’s skipper. A few years ago, Kesrick dismissed Virat and then pulled off a celebration, which Kohli didn’t forget. Back then, the speedster imitated, taking out a notebook from his pocket and writing Kohli’s name.

This time around, Kohli decided to give it back to the bowler. In the first T20I in Hyderabad, Virat took Kesrick to the cleaners, playing some scorching strokes. Thereafter, Kohli mocked Williams with an aggressive version of the notebook celebration. Kesrick didn’t drop the gun though and dismissed Kohli in the second T20I in Thiruvananthapuram. Then he pulled off a different celebration.

The seamer put his fingers on the lips. In the third T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, their banter continued. After hitting Williams for a colossal six in his last over, Virat gave a ‘WOW’ expression. The 29-year-old Kesrick picked up three wickets in as many games and was the joint-highest wicket-taker with the likes of Khary Pierre, Sheldon Cottrell and Deepak Chahar.

In the meantime, Sanjay Manjrekar, the cricketer turned commentator, felt that Kesrick can be an useful option even in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He took to Twitter and wrote, “Go for Kesrick Williams guys. Perfect bowler for IPL conditions.”

A user on Twitter reckoned that Kesrick can be a decent fit in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) where Virat is the skipper. The user took to Twitter and wrote. “@RCBTweets should pouch him given the chemistry he shares with @imVkohli I can see the captain and the bowler comparing notes after a dismissal! Brilliant!!! @CoachHesson @KP24.”

However, former England batsman Kevin Pietersen felt that Williams doesn’t have anything special apart from his celebration. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Completely disagree. He’s not good enough! He has nothing special apart from his celebration…”

Lastly, Williams didn’t miss out on Pietersen’s harsh words. But the seamer didn’t lose his calm and gave a cheeky reply. Williams only gave a thumbs-up to Pietersen’s comments.
