Both Kevin Pietersen and Yuvraj Singh share an extraordinary relationship off the field. While the Englishman is happily retired, the other is still active though he has reduced himself to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and a little bit of domestic cricket. From being foes on the field to becoming good friends off of it, the two icons of the game have come a long way.

During the England tour of India in 2008, Yuvraj with his part-time left-arm spin had troubled Kevin Pietersen quite a bit. KP’s struggles against left-arm orthodox was such that Yuvi managed to get the better of the then English skipper twice in the Test series. They also engaged in a bit of banter as Yuvraj did a bunny celebration after dismissing him once while Pietersen called him a pie chucker.

Today, the cricketers again engaged in a banter on Twitter. The former English batsman wasn’t pleased with the hype around Manchester United. AS the football club has not even been amongst the top 4 of the table in the English Premier League, KP went on to rattle the fans remarking that they weren’t even the best team from Manchester.

“Bloody hell, by reading Twitter it would suggest that @ManUtd are winning the Premier League & just won the Champions League. They’re not even in the top 4 &  you are the SECOND best team in Manchester! Will people just SHUT IT!” Pietersen tweeted.

Yuvraj who has been an ardent Man Utd fan tried to pull Pietersen’s leg. However, KP asked if he still believed Manchester United was better than Manchester City. The banter continued as Yuvraj was ready with another witty reply. He asked if the question was based on current form or the overall records. Pietersen quickly responded back stating he preferred to speak about the present.
