After being axed from the national team, Former England International Kevin Pietersen suggested that the move from England and Wales Cricket Board helped him save his marriage as he can spend more time with his family. KP has been involved heavily in humanitarian activities off-late, in an attempt to save the rhinos in Africa from being poached.

Pietersen, who has amassed as many as 13000 international runs for England, is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen ever to represent The Three Lions. But the right-hander has been a controversial figure due to his strenuous relationships with his colleagues. KP last featured for England in the 2013 Ashes series before being axed from the national team by former teammate Andrew Strauss, who was appointed as the Director of ECB and did not have a cordial relationship with the South African born batsman.

Strauss cited out massive trust issues as the reason behind his non-selection in the national team. Pietersen allegedly leaked some confidential information to some of his Protean mates, which did not go down well with the England management. However, the 37-year old who is currently playing in the NatWest T20 Blast for Surrey claimed that this would be his last season playing in England as he aims to focus on his quest to save the rhinos and spend quality time with family.

KP on his future endeavours

“People don’t understand the pressure that goes on between the four walls of home when it’s all going wrong like it did for me on a daily basis for a year. England did me a favour in sacking me in 2014 because it has helped me with my relationship with my kids no end,” commented Kevin Pietersen according to quotations from Sportskeeda. “It sounds crazy but I now want to try to save the 30,000 rhinos that are heading for extinction because of poachers. All I care about (now) is my family and my African roots,” signed off KP.
