Former Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson and the former English skipper Kevin Pietersen were recently seen having an ugly banter on the social media site Twitter. Things were bizarre as the latter ended up blocking the former for his ‘aggression’. The entire episode started off after England lost the Ashes recently. Their defeat at Perth meant the hosts had regained the Ashes.

Mitchell Johnson took to Twitter and asked Kevin Pietersen and Michael Vaughan to justify why the English pacers did not bowl fast during the course of the game. He took a cheeky little dig at the English pacers for not being hostile enough for the Australian batsmen.

“Hey @KP24 @MichaelVaughan yesterday were carrying on about the pommy fast bowlers being able to bowl in the 140’s. Ever since they’ve taken the second new ball they’ve been bowling medium pace. They are allowed to bend their backs, and there’s 4 of them #ashes #sweatbandswinger,” Mitchell Johnson had tweeted.

KP responds

Kevin Pietersen was quick to respond back as he slammed the former Aussie cricketer for his words. He asked if it was indeed Johnson who had tweeted this or was it the work of his management.

“Mitchell, is this you or your management tweeting? If it’s you, you not helping yourself! If it’s your management, ask them to stop or sack them!” Kevin Pietersen responded to the tweet.

Johnson unimpressed

Mitchell Johnson certainly expected a better response from KP. He sarcastically commented back on KP’s tweet. “Good response #flog,” Johnson responded back.

And KP blocks Johnson

Mitch Johnson soon shared a screenshot of KP’s profile that showed that the latter had blocked Johnson on the social media. He had a good laugh about it for Pietersen not being sporting enough to answer to the digs.

KP defends his actions

Soon, Kevin Pietersen was seen justifying his actions of blocking the former Australian speedster. As per the quotes in Fox Sports, KP noted that he found it absolutely pointless to answer to Johnson’s comments. He also went on to say that there is no point why Johnson was trying to sledge or take a dig at the English players when he is not even a part of the current Australian side.

KP expressed his dissatisfaction in the manner Johnson had tweeted to him. Also, he noted that the aggression was uncalled for. To avoid any further problems, he decided to block Johnson and end the chapter here itself.

“I don’t want to see garbage and I don’t understand the aggression and the manner he’s conducted himself on social media, and so what’s the point in looking at it? When you’re a past player and you’re not a current player, to use tactics you would use if you were bowling a fast aggressive spell on social media platforms … I just don’t get,” quoted Kevin Pietersen.

“A lot of people didn’t get (it) really. We were all confused in the commentary box and the press box were … we were all completely dumbfounded. And that’s why I said ‘if your management are tweeting for you, if it’s not you, you should probably sack them because I don’t think it’s doing him any favours in the bigger scheme of things because there’s cricket and then there’s life around cricket, and I don’t know what realm he wants to try and fit into as an ex-player. So that’s why I said, ‘I’m out.’,” Kevin Pietersen reasoned out.
