England’s star batsman Kevin Pietersen has picked his 5 players to watch out for in the World T20 in India. KP is no longer a part of the England set-up, however, will keep a close eye on the marquee event that will enthral the fans around the world. When England won the cup in 2010 in the West Indies, KP was a central figure in the side having played some exceptional innings. The following players have got KP’s vote as the ones to watch out for:

Chris Gayle

The big West Indian recently smashed a fifty off just 12 balls. Arguably the greatest batsman in the shortest format, the Jamaican will look to stamp his class and authority on the World T20. His vast legion of fans in India will be hoping for many Gayle Storms. The Caribean Kings have a power-packed lineup and Gayle is the team’s most potent weapon.

Virat Kohli

Kohli is has become a run-machine in recent times. His form was spectacular in Australia and he continued his golden run in the Asia Cup T20 as well. His ability to asses match situations is secondary to none and he will be Mr Dependable for the Men in Blue.

Rohit Sharma

Sharma can explode and score as quickly as the biggest hitters in the world. The facts that he does so with minimum fuss and makes batting look so elegant is the most remarkable aspect. When in flow, he is pure joy to watch. Rohit has also been in prolific form in recent times and will want to make a mark in the tournament.

Ahmed Shahzad

Ahmed Shahzad has had his ups and downs but enjoyed a brilliant Pakistan Super League scoring 290 runs in 10 games at a strike-rate of 143, to earn his place back for the World Twenty20. He was initially left out of the squad and will be eager to prove a point or two to the Pakistani selectors. Shahzad has all the shots however his temperament has at times been questionable. Pakistan’s batting has been fragile in recent times and the right-handed opener will need to be on top of his game to make an impact.

Jos Buttler

Buttler is the English version of AB de Villiers. He has all the tricks and sleight of hand of a modern batsman but can also whack it when needed. He played well in sub-continental conditions in ODIs and T20Is against Pakistan before Christmas last year and is all set to feature in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians. Buttler’s contributions will hold the key if England is to go all the way in the competition.
