Out of favor English batsman Kevin Pietersen looked absolutely unimpressed with the way Windies bowlers shaped up in the first couple of sessions in the first Test against England. The iconic venue of Edgbaston, Birmingham hosted the first Test of the three-match Test series against the touring Windies side. The first game was historic in its own might being the first ever day-night Test match for team England.

Team England came into the series as the firm favorites after they had registered a thumping 3-1 win against South Africa recently. On the other hand, West Indies arrived in the series after having lost their limited overs fixtures against team India at home. Despite the poor form, they were confident of springing up a surprise against England in the Test series.

Much to the disappointment of cricket lovers, things did not change for the Windies players and nor did their fortunes. England won the toss and opted to bat first. The Windies pacers were quick to give two early jolts to the English side. However, they had no control on the game following that. Mark Stoneman was cleaned up by Kemar Roach on 8 and Tom Westley was trapped lbw by Miguel Cummins on the same score.

Roach an exception

After that, Joe Root and Alastair Cook made the Windies bowlers toil hard. By the end of first session, they mustered 108/2 in 27 overs. After lunch, both batsmen reached their individual fifties too. It was just then when Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter to express his amusement at the lack of penetration of the Windies bowlers. He mocked them with his tweet. Only Kemar Roach bowled well and the others were miserable, according to Pietersen.

“I’m sorry & I don’t mean to be disrespectful. But, my goodness this WI bowling line up is help yourself(Roach excluded)! Can’t watch it!” tweeted Kevin Pietersen.
