Kevin Pietersen bid adieu to his professional cricket career that spanned over three decades which includes ten years of service for England national team. The South African born cricketer moved to England in 2000 and became eligible to play for the national side after four years of county cricket. The right-handed batsman is among the greatest players of the game produced by England. The master of all strokes excelled in the three formats before he was dropped from the team in 2013/14. He continued to feature in various T20 leagues all over the globe over the last five years.

Here we look at the stats and numbers that Kevin Pietersen created during his glorious career:

5Kevin Pietersen is one of the five players to score consecutive centuries in the Twenty20 format. He scored 115* and 100* in consecutive games for Dolphins in Ram Slam T20 2015.


21 – Pietersen completed 1000 ODI runs in 21 innings making him the joint quickest to the milestone. He is also the joint 2nd quickest and the fastest England player to complete 2000 ODI runs.


23 – His 23 Test centuries are the 2nd most for England behind Alastair Cook’s 32. The right-hander scored a total of 32 centuries during his International career for England; the 2nd most after Cook’s 37 tons.


32 – Innings Pietersen needed for completing 1000 runs in the T20I format. He is the joint fastest England player and the joint 3rd quickest to 1000 T20I runs.


81 – Pietersen’s 81 sixes in Test cricket are the most by any player for England. He hit a total of 189 sixes for England in International cricket only behind Eoin Morgan’s tally of 220 sixes.


355* – He scored an unbeaten 355 for Surrey against Leicestershire in 2015 which is the 2nd highest individual FC score for Surrey. Bobby Abel scored an unbeaten 357 against Somerset way back in 1899.


454 – Pietersen scored 454 runs in the 7-match ODI series against South Africa in 2005. He holds the record for the most runs in a bilateral ODI series for England. His three centuries in that series are also the most hundreds for an England player in a bilateral ODI series.

His 248 runs during the victorious England campaign in the 2010 WT20 are the 2nd most for an England player in a T20I series/tournament. Joe Root scored 249 runs in the 2016 WT20.


1176 – Kevin Pietersen was the first player to complete 1000 T20I runs for England. His tally is the 3rd among the four players with 1000+ T20I runs for England.


5695 – Pietersen aggregated 5695 runs in his Twenty20 career which are the 3rd most among the players from England.


13779 – Pietersen scored a total of 13779 runs for England in International cricket; the 2nd most behind Alastair Cook’s 15270. He is the 5th highest run-getter in Test cricket for England with 8181 runs and 6th highest in ODIs with 4422 runs.
