Khalid Latif takes objection against the disciplinary panel

Pakistan Super League was once again shadowed with spot-fixing. There were a few players who were allegedly suspected for spot-fixing. There was evidence of the same and Khalid Latif is one of the five players charged with spot-fixing allegations. Recently his challenge towards the anti-corruption unit was discarded.

The PSL which was held in March and February was marred with fixing scandals. Pakistan cricket has been fighting against the fixing for quite a long time now as some of their players were banned previously. However, Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan along with three more players were accused of fixing in the PSL. All these players were suspended from the game temporarily.

Latif unhappy with the disciplinary panel

Khalid Latif who is in the news for wrong reasons was accused of fixing in the 2017 PSL season. He is, however, not happy with the disciplinary panel formed by the court to fix the matter. He has come out and accused all the three members of previously being on a payroll of the Pakistan Cricket Board. This also raised the questions about the members being independent of the board.

In this response, the PCB has formed a disciplinary panel which consists of just one person. The person is understood to be a former judge who has now retired. Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chohan is the man who will stand in that disciplinary panel. With this, the proceedings are to start but still Latif and his lawyer Badar Alam are extremely unhappy.

They are complaining about very little time given for preparation as his client was not officially informed in a timely manner and hence they have had a problem in preparing for the trial. However, the trial was set to start freshly from today that is 22^nd June with Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chohan helming the proceedings. It will be interesting to see how everything ends up for Latif as the allegations are strong and PCB has provided them with evidence.
