Indian opener KL Rahul has been in and out of the side in the last few months. But the disappointing thing about this is, he is missing out due to injuries or some other illness. He had missed the entire tenth edition of the IPL as he needed time to recover from his surgery and just when he was about to make a comeback, a viral fever denied him an entry into the Indian playing XI for the 1st Test in Sri Lanka.

But the youngster from Karnataka is all set to join the side again after recovering from the fever. It won’t be surprising if he’s getting back into the playing XI straight away with Abhinav Mukund is axed. BCCI announced that he rejoined the team with a resounding welcome from his teammates.

The tweet from the board read, “Back on the field to a warm welcome. KL Rahul all smiles after joining the team this morning.” India are currently in Sri Lanka on a lengthy tour, which includes 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and a T20I. Rahul’s comeback is not just a boost for the side, but a major headache for the skipper Virat Kohli when it comes to selecting the side.

India in a dominating position in First Test

This was supposed to be Rahul’s comeback game but the 25-year-old had suffered from a viral fever, paving way for Abhinav Mukund to get into the side. India attained a massive first innings lead of 309 runs and they didn’t enforce the follow on.

With 2 more days left in the game after Thursday, Sri Lanka are well out of this game and the best they can hope for is the rain to kill the next two days or a miraculous batting effort from the Islanders. Both these scenarios look highly unlikely which might mean that India will be 1-0 up by the time Rahul makes his comeback in the next Test match.
