Knee Injury forces Mohammed Shami out of the Pepsi IPL 2015: Delhi Daredevils (DD) just escaped the embarrassment of being the team with the most extended losing streak in the IPL, as they beat the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the match last night in Pune ending its 11 match losing streak. But as things started to look good for the Men from Delhi, news broke out that Indian pacer Mohammed Shami who is also a part of the DD team will not been able to recover from the knee injury he sustained and is forced out of the Pepsi IPL 2015.
Shami was expected to play a vital role in the teams bowling attack, since he is in the best form of his career, and had a really good world cup 2015 where he was one of the leading wicket takers in the tournament with 17 wickets to his credit in 7 games. He had a few niggles and it grew into an injury all this while DD waited for him to recover, resting the Indian pacer in the first three matches; it is learnt that this injury will probably need him to undergo a surgery and will take him at least a couple of months to get back on the field.
Press Trust of India (PTI) quoted an anonymous BCCI official saying, “Shami is out of the tournament. He might have to go for operation. He should not have gone for IPL. He will take at least two months for recovery,”
DD had lot of hopes relying on the two Indian pacers in their squad the experienced veteran Zaheer Khan and the fired up Shami, but both of them were unavailable for the initial three games with injuries; status of Mohd. Shami’s injury though unofficially, is a bit clear now, while that of Zak is undisclosed, many believe he will be fit to play the upcoming matches for Delhi.
