Kohli talks about the time when Shikhar Dhawan landed in Mumbai instead of celebrating New Year's in Delhi

It is a well-renowned fact that Delhi boys Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have been tight right since their Ranji days. The two Delhiites are currently representing the Indian side in all formats of the game, which is a matter of great pride for the capital of the country.

The captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, in a recent interview talked in detail about all the prominent personalities within the dressing room and it also included ‘Jaat Ji’ Shikhar Dhawan.

In an interesting turn of events, the Indian opener in excitement and anticipation of celebrating New Year’s Eve in a farmhouse in Delhi eventually ended up at a function in Mumbai.

“I remember this New Year party at our friend’s farmhouse in Delhi. He was very excited…’A big party, all our friends will be there, lots of fun’. So the plan was made, everything was organised,” recalled VK.

“Shikhar was on his way home when he got a call. The person on the other end says, ‘Shikhar Dhawan ji’? He says, ‘Yes’. There is lots of traffic, and he was trying to drive at the same time. The caller says, ‘There’s a function in Mumbai and we want you to be the Chief Guest’,” further conversed Kohli in Gaurav Kapur’s chat show Breakfast with Champions.

“So Shikhar says, ‘Yeah yeah okay, just call me later’. And he hung up. In the meantime, the other guy got the invitation cards printed in Mumbai. And later that evening Shikhar gets his flight ticket on the mail. ‘Your flight is at such and such time.’ Shikhar asks, ‘Who are you?’. The guy replies, ‘I just spoke to you in the afternoon and you said ok, to call you later and we have got the cards printed’. Shikhar says, ‘Brother, but who are you?’,” continued Dhawan, unable to remember the conversation he had earlier.

“You’ve got a flight tomorrow at 12 for the function in Mumbai for which you are our Chief Guest’. So while we’re all enjoying our New Year’s party, Shikhar is sitting on stage for a function in Mumbai,” concluded Kohli, leaving one and all in splits.
