KPL 2015 Match 27: Namma Shivamogga v Mangalore United, Review: Mysuru, Sept 17: Mangalore United became the fourth team to make it to the next round of the Karbonn Smart KPL 2015, defeating Namma Shivamogga by three wickets here on Thursday.

Chasing Shivamogga’s 137, Mangalore United got off to a quick start with Rohan Kadam hammering 12 runs off the very first over. He was on a roll in the middle hammering five boundaries in his 27.

KC Avinash took over and helped himself to a 16-ball 23 to further add to the total. However, two wickets in quick succession twice in the innings had United on the back foot.

From a healthy 71 for two, the team slumped to be 115 for seven before BN Bharath (12 N.O.) and Ronit More (16 N.O.) put their heads down and together guided the team into the eliminator.

Batting first Namma Shivamogga were rescued by an authoritative 49 from skipper Stuart Binny and his 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Shreyas Gopal (24).

But after the departure of the two, wickets began falling and the team managed just 137, a total that was too low to defend. None of the middle and lower order batsmen managed a double figure score and that proved Shivamogga’s downfall in the end.

Ronit More was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 2 for 29 and holding his nerves to score an unbeaten 16 off 11 balls to guide his team through.

Mangalore United will take on Hubli Tigers in the Eliminator 1 on Friday while Bijapur Bulls will take on Belagavi Panthers in the Qualifier in the second match under lights.
