MS Dhoni has forever been regarded as one of the calmest personalities on the field. He maintains a collected composure while batting and even on the field marshalling his troops. Irrespective of the way the match pans out Dhoni doesn’t let emotions boil out. There have been rare occasions when the wicketkeeper-batsman has lost his cool. The latest one could be the incident involving Manish Pandey during the T20I against South Africa.

Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav in the last year or so has become a regular feature in the Indian limited-overs side. His ability to pick wickets and dictate terms on even dead wickets has forced the selectors to look upon him over the experienced duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. During the popular chat show hosted by Vikram Sathaye, Kuldeep narrated an incident where captain cool had lost it for a bit.

MS Dhoni had asked the spinner to make specific changes in the field for the next ball while Kuldeep was being taken apart by the Sri Lankan batsmen. However, the chinaman bowler replied saying that he was fine with the current setup which triggered Dhoni and he shot back at Yadav.

The incident took place in the second T20 international between India and Sri Lanka at Indore. This is the same game where Rohit Sharma slammed the fastest century off just 35 balls. Team India had posted a total of 260/5 in their quota of 20 overs as the conditions were extremely suitable for batting.

The Sri Lankans also got off to a great start and were in a strong position. Dhoni suggested him to remove the cover fielder, push him deep and bring the point fielder up. Kuldeep Yadav in the moment told that he was fine with the current field. That’s when Dhoni yelled at and said, ”Kya main pagal hu yaha pe, maine 300 ODI khela hu’ which translates to ‘Do you think I’m mad? I’ve played 300 ODIs’,” said the 23-year-old on the show ‘What the duck’.

Following this, the adjustments were made and Kuldeep soon got a wicket. In the game, the left-arm wrist spinner conceded 45 runs in the first three overs. However, he went on take 3 wickets in the last over which suggests that Dhoni’s ploy worked. He lauded Dhoni’s cricketing mind and thanked him for his inputs on the field, which he says does 50% of the work for him.
