Kuldeep Yadav prefers to be classical than mysterious

Kuldeep Yadav is among the rare breed of bowlers who bowl the left-arm Chinaman. He has featured on a consistent basis for India in the limited-over format. Also, he has played a few Tests in which he has telecasted his calibre as well. The Kanpur-born prodigy is currently playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He has played eight games thus far in which he has taken seven wickets. While in some matches, he has been frugal, the opposition batsmen have targeted him at times. The tweaker is touted to be a mystery spinner, however, he isn’t quite satisfied with the tag and he recently has pledged to develop himself as a more conventional bowler.

“I’m right now focusing on my basic skills and constantly looking to improve them. In future, I see myself as a classic spinner rather than being called as a ‘mystery spinner. I’m not working on any new variations at the moment. I don’t think I will ever try to bowl a carrom ball or any other new delivery.” Kuldeep was quoted as saying by India TV.

He has also heaped praises on Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine who have been consistent enough for the franchise. The duo has a combined tally of 14 wickets in the eight matches. Moreover, they have shouldered the responsibility of bowling in the power-play, which has also been appreciated by Kuldeep in his media interaction.

“PC and Narine are proven campaigners and are easily the best spinners in this format. It’s easy for me to bowl along with them as they took away the pressure off me. The way they bowl in powerplays is just brilliant. However, I want our fast bowlers to also contribute to the team’s cause so that we become a solid bowling unit,” he added.
