Kumar Sangakkara likely to Retire from Test Cricket after the First Test against India: One of the sensational players with marvelous impacts in International Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara is likely to call his time up for retirement after the first test against India according to some reports.

Sangakkara has officially informed about his plans to retire from test cricket. The former Sri Lankan captain will be playing the three match test series against Pakistan. And he is likely to retire from test cricket after the first test against India.

The first test between India and Sri Lanka was likely to be held at Galle but owing to the fact of it being the farewell test for Sangakkara, the test’s venue might well be shifted to Kandy, Sangakkara’s hometown. However there are no official releases for the fixtures of the test series.

Sanga planned to retire from international cricket just after the conclusion of the World Cup, 2015. He made a tremendous contribution for Sri Lanka in the World Cup by striking four back to back centuries but unfortunately the team was eliminated in the quarter finals by South Africa.

Sangakkara was somehow convinced by the selectors and the Sri Lankan skipper, Angelo Mathews to carry on with his service for the next few months, during the home series against Pakistan and India. The veteran agreed to it and stepped up to play the first two tests against Pakistan and he has informed officially that he would announce his retirement after the first test match against India as he has other commitments to fulfill, for his county club, Surrey.

He had a glorifying test career where he struck a total of 12,203 runs at an average of around 58 and is the leading run scorer in tests among the non-retired players. The left handed middle order batsman also possesses a total of 38 international test centuries by his name. As a matter of fact, Sangakkara was the most successful batsman for Sri Lanka. He was the fastest player to reach to 8000, 9000, 10000, 11000 and 12000 runs in test Cricket in terms of the number of innings played and his style of batting was undoubtedly something equivalent to majestic.

But since, everything by itself has an end, we are likely to witness the conclusion of such a monstrous cricketing career. He is indisputably the best batsman Sri Lanka has ever produced and also perhaps one of the best wicket keeper batsmen of World Cricket, if not The Best.
