Newly appointed Indian coach Anil Kumble took charge of the Indian team on a rain-marred day, as he had an indoor training session with the Test squad at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Shardul Thakur is the only uncapped player selected for the West Indies tour and he said that Kumble created an impact in the first interaction itself.

“I must say he created an impact right in his first interaction itself. I am keen to work with him and learn a lot of things,” Thakur told bcci.tv

He is looking forward to spend time with the new coach as it is going to be very helpful for him and the team. “He is a legend. He has loads of experience and it is going to be very useful to the team and me. I am looking forward to spent time with him on this tour.”

The 24-year old is also keen on bowling to Virat Kohli in the nets as he thinks that bowling to the best of the batsmen brings the most out of any bowler. “Bowling to good batsmen in the nets is always an advantage as it shows you where you stand. What you need to work on and how you can improve. So, I am looking forward to bowl to Virat Kohli in the nets and test myself,” he said.

Thakur, who plays first-class cricket for Mumbai said that he had some nervousness but the initial interaction he had with his senior teammates helped him overcome it. “There is always a bit of nervousness when you are new to the setup. I was nervous before landing here, but once I talked to the guys, I settled down. When we fly to St. Kitts, I might be a bit nervous but at the same time, it gets the best out of me,” he concluded.
