There was a deadly bomb blast which killed 3 people and injured close to 30 people in the city of Lahore in Pakistan. And, the Federal Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has opined that one of the main motives of the bomb blast was to prevent the 7th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well as Australia’s tour of Pakistan from happening.

PSL 2022 is scheduled to begin in another 5 days’ time, on 27th January 2022, and will be a month-long affair, with the final slated to be played on 27th February 2022.

“The enemy is trying to destabilize Pakistan after peace has returned to the country. One of the motives behind the blast could be to create obstacles for the PSL and the Australian visit but we would not let that happen,” said Rasheed Ahmed as quoted by Saama tv.

Australia’s historic tour to Pakistan

The Australian side will embark on a tour to Pakistan for 3 Tests, 3 ODIs as well as a solitary T20I game in March this year. This will be a historic occasion, as this is the first time in more than two decades that the Australian cricket team will fly down to Pakistan for a series.

Also, Australian player Usman Khawaja, who is of Pakistan origin said that the best way to give back to the game of cricket is for the Australian cricketers to tour Pakistan. Adding that the people in Pakistan have been deprived of cricketing action for a long time, Khawaja concluded by stating that the series should happen for the sake of all the youngsters in Pakistan.

“I don’t think there is a better way to give back to the game than to tour a country like Pakistan who has been deprived for so long. So hopefully we will get over there not just for my sake, but for Pakistan cricket and all those young boys and girls out there. We actually inspire a generation by just going back over there,” concluded Usman Khawaja.
