Babar Azam, the Pakistan all-format skipper, has found himself in a bit of a tangle after an additional sessions court in Lahore ordered the police to file an FIR against him on a sexual complaint, registered by Hamiza Mukhtar from Lahore. As per the complainant, Babar had sexually exploited her, forced her into abortion and kept her in the dark, giving false marriage promises.

Noman Muhammad Naeem, the additional sessions judge, directed the SHO of Naseerabad police station to file the case against Babar on an immediate basis after hearing the arguments of lawyers from both sides. The petitioner annexed the complainant’s medical documents as evidence. As per the judge, the allegations were disturbing and thorough investigations are needed.

Babar Azam in a bit of a strife

Later on, Hamiza stated that the FIR has been lodged at the Naseerabad police station, going by reports in Sportstar. Previously, Abid Raza, another additional sessions’ judge, had ordered Azam not to harass Hamiza.

The latter also claimed that she has been getting calls to withdraw her case. She alleged that when she attempted to lodge the FIR against him at the Naseerabad Police Station, Babar forced her into withdrawing the application on re-assuring about marriage.

Babar recently went on the tour of Pakistan, but he couldn’t play a single match due to a thumb fracture. In his absence, even as the tourists lost the T20Is 1-2, they lost both the Test matches. The youngster is currently busy preparing for Pakistan’s home series against South Africa.

In the last five years or so, Babar has come up the ranks and is being deemed as one of the best in the business. While he has mostly tasted success in the shorter formats, he hasn’t done badly even in Test cricket, being one of their prolific run-scorers in the purest format.

In 29 Tests, 77 ODIs and 44 T20Is, the 26-year-old has racked up 2045, 3580 and 1681 runs respectively. He has 17 tons and 47 half-centuries to show for his efforts.

In ODIs and T20Is, he averages in excess of 50, showing how much dominant he has been. He was recently a part of the Karachi Kings, who won the 2020 edition of the PSL.
